For some drops you could look up the statistics on certain websites. In some servers all drops were rated at 100% as to cut the grinding down as much as possible.
The servers me and Biospark played on had drops rated 50% above what they usually would drop at.
Even so it would sometimes take us hours and hours to get anything useful.
