In some MMOS, you would have a special set of quests you'd pursue every few levels in order to specify yourself into a certain class (such as fighter or priest.) After you did these quests you were considered by the game to be that class. Before that you were usually a novice or base class, and had no special skills. That's what I based this arc on. I figured you could use that as an allegory for something else that just happens to be mandatory before you're considered a certain class in RL.
I've never been a big fan of education. A lot of people meet don't feel you're worth anything unless you have some kind of degree under your belt. This arc is also going to be a bit opinionated since I feel college is screwing me over.
I made an alternative form of the comic above, but it rubbed me the wrong way so I decided to replace it with the new one. Here's the old version.
I realized later that I had put too much dialog into it for a comic. It became very visually busy. But that's usually how these college commercials usually are. "Come to DeVry!! Advance yourself today!" I figured it was okay to bend the rules of proper comic writing just a little bit.
