I know this is not funny. ;.;
It serves more to introduce a character in a dramatic way than to produce humor.
John is actually based on my experiences with moderators and idiots on MMOs. John is showing classic misuse of visual effects and the leveling system common in MMO administration. Why actually play the game when you can give yourself all that shiny armor and impressive weaponry necessary to attain the respect of other players? In a way, moderators are supposed to be more level headed in the fact that they no longer desire anything from the game and can actually get to work moderating (or unleashing boss monsters in the capital city).
In my estimation, though, moderators only got where they are by devoting their lives to playing a stupid game, kissing enough ass, or being part of the Dev team, beta team, or relation by family to someone in the latter categories.
