What is the name of the plot device where you insert a black scene that says 5 seconds later and then open up on a completely different scene where something drastic appears to have happened in those 5 seconds? I was going to put it's name up in the black square, but couldn't figure it out.
So what's the deal with this comic? It's only two frames long and doesn't seem to be very funny. Well there's a story behind it. A long...horrible story that I am definitely not proud of. Biospark knows where I'm going with this.
One day he IMs me. He's like "DUED! YOU GOTTA PLAY THIS NEW GAME." It was called RAN online. So I download it. Install it. Make a character. But I can't make a male character. I have to make a female character because the classes are gender based. That's right, you can't be a healer in RAN without being a chick. So I'm like, okay, well maybe it won't be so bad. When I'm bored I can oogle my own breasts and stuff. So I become this skinny anime chick with a big ol' beating stick.
The problem I had with RAN was that it had absolutely no point. This was GRIND the game. There was a mess hall, a shopping mall, and a large completely linear schoolyard where, based on how far away from where you started, you'd fight homeless people and 80s clichés of incremental difficulty for varying amounts of their pocket change. But I think you'd eventually hit the end of the schoolyard and have to turn back. Therefore the only point to playing was to collect weapons and armor which made the slow trudge from point A to wall B more bearable.
I'd gotten to about level 10 and had been saving up to buy an oaken stick for a while. On my last return to town I found myself about twenty dollars short. But rather than walk back to where I had been to beat up moar homeless people for their lunch money, I approached a random male character. I figured, being a female character I could use "them."
It went kind of like this.
"For twenty dollars I'll dance for you!"
"Dance? What kind of dance?"
"SEXY DANCE! Just for you!"
"OKAY!! =O~~~"
You get $20.
At that point, I took off my weapons and armor, leaving my character in pink undergarments and typed "/dances." My character gyrated on the screen for a few seconds like she was in a bad hammer time music video. Then I put everything back on and ran back to buy my stick.
It was a brown pole-like object which added +5 to my attack stat...
But after going over and using it to beat up another homeless person I felt I'd lost something getting that stick.
OH MY GOD! WHAT HAVE I BECOME!!!
I never played RAN online again.
So who is that in the second frame then. That's Lukki. He's the first guy that came to mind when I was thinking of the person I got the money from.
